Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill will miss the second England Lions match against India. A game
KL Rahul will likely join the India A team on Tuesday and participate in the match in order to be ready for the England five-Test series.
The second unofficial "Test" between the England
Lions and India A, scheduled to begin in Northampton on June 6, will not
feature Shubman Gill, India's new Test captain.
The BCCI had stated that Gill and Gujarat Titans (GT)
opening partner B Sai Sudharsan will join India A before to the match when
declaring the Test squad for the five-match series in England. However, Gill
and Sai Sudharsan will now accompany the main team when they arrive in England
on June 6, according to information obtained by ESPNcricinfo. However, KL
Rahul, who joined the India A team on Tuesday, is anticipated to feature in the
Lions match.
The first Test match versus England begins on June 20 in
Leeds.
The arrival of Chris Woakes for this match is probably going
to help the England Lions, who finished with six Test caps for the first game
in Canterbury.
Akash Deep will also be available for selection for India A.
Following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, the fast bowler sustained a
back ailment. However, he was deemed healthy in early April and went on to play
for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2025 Indian Premier League. Even
though Akash Deep was in Canterbury for the first unofficial "Test"
as well, he spent most of the time training with the team and bowling briefly
during the four days' breaks.
The first Lions vs. India match is on Monday. On a slow,
flat pitch that was a labor for the bowlers, a game ended in a draw. Among the
players of the India Test team, Dhruv Jurel struck two half-centuries, Yashasvi
Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, and Nitish Kumar Reddy hit fast fifties in the
second innings, while Karun Nair, who played at No. 3 in the first innings,
produced a double-century.
In the Lions game, Reddy and Shardul Thakur, the second
seaming all-rounder in the Test team, bowled 14.5 and 28 overs, respectively,
and would want to increase those totals in the second match.
India will play an intra-squad game versus India A at
Beckenham after the second encounter against the Lions, which concludes on June
9. This game is probably going to be played behind closed doors. After that,
the Test team will go to Leeds.
