The five-match Test series between India and England is scheduled to begin in Leeds on June 20. Since it will be the start of India's campaign in the 2025–2027 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, this series will be particularly memorable. In addition, this will be the first series since the Test retirement of ace batsman Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma. Team India will begin a new chapter with the selection of Shubman Gill as their new captain.

The BCCI fired the Indian support staff, including fielding coach T Dilip and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, before to Rohit and Virat announcing their respective retirements.

However, after failing to find a suitable successor, the BCCI returned T Dilip as the team's fielding coach for the forthcoming trip of England.




The BCCI was looking to hire a foreign coach to be the new fielding coach, but the governing body failed to do so in time, according to a PTI report. But according to a recent source from Cricbuzz, former captain Rohit Sharma was the driving force behind the decision to rehire T Dilip.

Rohit specifically asked head coach Gautam Gambhir for a one-year extension for the Hyderabad-based coach, according to the source.

Additionally, it was stated that BCCI was seeking to hire Ryan ten Doeschate as the fielding coach following Dilip's departure. He will now, however, remain Gambhir's assistant coach.

In his previous position, Dilip had implemented various popular policies, such giving medals to the top fielder on a given match day or inviting famous people to present the awards.

Regarding the Test match against England, reserve batsman B Sai Sudharsan and recently selected Test captain Shubhman Gill may be banned for India A's second four-day match against the England Lions, which starts on June 6.

The Gujarat Titans include them. It will be difficult for Gill and Sudharshan to join the India A team before the game if GT get to the final, which is set for June 3 in Ahmedabad.
